Sarah & Adam’s Wedding
Sarah and Adam were married on 21st October 2017 at the Nurragingy Reserve, Doonside with a reception afterwards at the same location. The northern beaches of Sydney hold a special place in their heart as the scene for many of their first dates and Adam’s romantic proposal at Warriewood headland. The couple returned to Turimetta Beach to film this amazing photoshoot. Sarah chose the perfect beach wedding dress in our Dominca gown. The Dominica is a lace, sweetheart, strapless wedding dress with intricate pearl beading on the bodice and an amazing lace scalloped train. The soft sand at Turimetta beach truly shows off the gown and this beautiful couple to perfection.
Peter Trends: How did you meet your husband?
Sarah: Our little sisters were friends growing up, so we were childhood friends. He began working at my Dad’s company in 2012 and before long at the dinner table I’d hear “Adam Roberts is so polite” and “I wish we had ten more workers like that Adam Roberts” and “I hope you meet someone as mature as Adam Roberts.” I later found that his parents would always talk about me to him too! We joke that it was all a set up! It took us many years, but we began taking an interest in each other in 2014, and we loved to do active things together, such as running, skiing, and beach days.
Peter Trends: How did your husband propose to you?
Sarah: With a sunrise picnic on the headland overlooking Warriewood Beach. Adam grew up on the Northern Beaches, and they were our favourite date destinations, so it was perfect to share this special moment there. We begun by driving to the beach and setting up our picnic at the lookout. We shared some tea and talked about the future. Then we began talking about our past, and Adam shared that there was a little walk nearby that he used to do with his Dad as a boy. We began walking down a track, and we emerged out of the scrub to an amazing cliff jutting out over the ocean with nearly 360 degree views! It was amazing, and a little precarious! Adam said he would take a photo of me, but I should turn around and look out at the horizon. He took a suspiciously long time to take the photo, but when I turned around he was on one knee holding a ring box! He shared how he loved me and asked if I would marry him. I said yes and he proceeded to pull out another surprise, a bouquet of roses!
Peter Trends: What was your favourite part of the wedding day?
Sarah: My favourite part was enjoying our wedding reception with the happiness at having married my best friend, and my second favourite part was a rocking dance floor! We delayed leaving by nearly an hour and insisted that the DJ keep playing more songs!

Peter Trends: How was the experience of shopping for a wedding gown?
Sarah: It was very special to try on such exquisite gowns. I was prepared with an idea of what I imagined I wanted, however that style didn’t suit me. When the shop assistant brought me this gown I was drawn to it, but surprised, as it wasn’t what I would have chosen for myself. When I stepped out of the fitting room with this dress on, my sister’s and mother’s eyes sparkled, and they didn’t speak for a few moments. We’re a talkative bunch so I suspected this was the one! It was fantastic to only have to try on six gowns to find my forever wedding dress!
Peter Trends: What did you love about your wedding gown?
Sarah: I loved the beading on the bodice, and the lace on the skirt, and the royal feel of the cut.
Peter Trends: Any words of wisdom for future brides?
Sarah: Don’t be anxious about the details of the day. Choose a dress you love, just as you chose the partner you loved. It might be too hot or cold on the day, your hair or flowers might be unpredictable, or people’s opinions might not agree, but just think about marrying the love of your life and all the special memories you will make, because that is all you will have after the special day. Bonus Tip: Steal away from everyone for a quiet moment with your new husband. We snuck out the side doors and kissed in the rain by a lamplit lake, and it was the most romantic moment of the entire wedding, just for us.
Peter Trends: Any special last notes about your wedding day?
Sarah: Be you and savour the moments!
